KO KARATSU CHAWAN (Dealer: hotoke) – Initial-type Karatsu pottery tea bowl, Early Edo period, 17th century, Japan. approx. D 11cm (4.33in), H 6.3cm (2.48in) as genuine comfortable compact size. Repaired in the later years as is. Attached with the paper with vermilion Indian ink by anonymous calligraphy teacher as the tutorial sample that applies to its wrapping cloth (‘shifuku’) as another interpretation of ‘mitate’ or ‘wabi’.
