SAGGAR OF SHIGARAKI – Japanese pottery kiln-tool 19th century (Dealer: misakadou) – Shigaraki ware saggar of Japanese kiln tool for fixing pottery products in kiln-firing. Edo period, 19th century. Quite a unique unintentional expression of well-burnt texture by frequent use, with laudable natural glaze pouring down. Rare type of saggar in such length and beautiful form. In fine antique condition as is, with given arrangement for reuse (restoration of filling original bottom hole) by the predecessor. approx. H 23.5cm (9.25in), D 18.5cm (7.28in)
