Shifu Hanten – Japanese pulp cloth short coat (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Rare hanten coat made of ‘shifu’ as combination of cotton (for warp) and washi paper (for woof). Meiji period, 19th century. Valued material to be cool in summer and warm in winter specially during the Edo period, but unproduced since the early 20th century. Scarce original piece for today except modern reproduction. approx. length 89cm (35.03in), sleeve to sleeve 126cm (49.60in), length of sleeve 32.5cm (12.79in), width 60cm (23.62in)
