SHIGARAKI CHATSUBO (Dealer: Jinta) – Japanese shigaraki ware ‘chatsubo’ (tea leaf jar) which tended to be used as an offering to the Tokugawa shogunate. End of Edo period, 19th century. Coated in ‘shibugami’ paper treated with astringent persimmon juice as the provision for humidity and sunburn. Attched with an wooden lid. Refinedly profound and beautiful aged jar as is.
