SIGNBOARD FOR GREENGROCER (Dealer: hotoke) – Old wood carving kanban (shop sign) for ‘Yaoya’ (Japanese greengrocer) with unique but traditional design of such crossing Japanese white radishes, 19th – early 20th century, approx. 67.5 x 35 x 2.5cm (26.57 x 13.77 x 0.98in). ‘Yaoya’ is literally written as “Eight hundred store” with three kanji letters, and each letter of “Eight” (pic#4), “Hundred” (pic#5), and “Store” (pic#6) is carved.
