SEKIBUTSU (Dealer: titcoRet) – ‘Sekibutsu’ (Stone Buddhist image) of ‘Jizo Bosatsu’ (Jizo Bodhisattva) in such smoothened natural condition due to aging. Edo period, 19th century, Japan.
Unbalanced but curiosly attractive right half of the body with aged damage, and slightly but confirmable carvings of ‘kesa’ (Buddhist priest’s stole) and such mysteriously beautiful face as the highlights as well. Repaired crack at neck. approx. H 28.4cm (11.18in), 11.6 x 9.6cm (4.56 x 3.77in)
