STATUETTE OF ELEVEN-FACED KANNON (Dealer: titcoRet) – Small wood carving statue of the Eleven-faced Kannon Bosatsu (Kannon Bodhisattva, Guanyin) by a very skillful ‘Busshi’ (Japanese Buddhist sculptor) in the Edo period (1603-1868), approx. H 9.7cm (3.81in). Lack of arms and abrasion of front surface as is, but refined detailed carving with aesthetic gold painting in such beautiful curvilinear proportions, which is very scarce for such small image.
