MIRRORS OF YUJO (Dealer: titcoRet) – Old portable combination mirrors called ‘Awasekagami’ (by arranging the two mirrors at the angle to see own back hair), as an actual possessions of ‘Yujo’ (Prostitute / lit. ‘Woman of pleasure’/ ref. https://www.japanese-wiki-corpus.org/history/Yujo%20(prostitute).html). 11.9 x 8.9 x 1.2cm (4.68 x 3.50 x 0.47in). ‘Amanoya’ (as shop name), Niigata prefecture, Meiji 22 (1889). Acquired from a collector. Some damage at wooden case and some peelings at mirrors as is.
