TANUKI SIGNBOARD OF CANDY STORE (Dealer: hotoke) – Old wood carving raccoon dog formed hanging shop-signboard engraved as ‘okashi’ (confectionery) in kanji words, Showa period, early-mid 20th century, Japan, W 49 x H 45 x D 4 cm (19.29 x 17.71 x 1.57in). Solid and heavy make, once gold foiled and faded so due to age as is. Also, some small cracks and peeling as seen.
