Tokoname ware jar 14th century (Dealer: misakadou) – Tokoname middle-size jar (chutsubo) of 14th century, Northern and Southern dynasties (1336-1392) – Muromachi period (1333-1573), with characteristically a little higher and sharp mouth as it’s a transitional type from ‘sankinko’ (jar with three lines) in Heian period (794-1192). Impressive red skin with fine inborn crackle caused by kiln-firing coated in ash as its landscape (some exfoliation for the age though). In fine antique condition as is in original forming with aesthetic deformed shoulder, with no fatal damages as seen. (* Whitish powder on the surface would be salinity, as this jar might be used for seasoning including salinity. Well-washed in fact, though please remember this point in advance for your consideration.) approx. H 32cm (12.59in), D 26cm (10.23in)
