MEN-KABURI (Dealer: chokkan to telepathy) – Vintage Japanese Satsuma folk mechanical toy made of paper clay and wood, by Takashi Kashima who had started to make such folk toy since around Showa 32 (1957), as this is ‘Men-kaburi’ (lit. ‘Mask-wearing’) that wear its fox mask to against the bad fox when pulling the string, based on a scene from an old tale dated back to the Edo period. H 23 x 10 x 10 cm (9.05 x 3.93 x 3.93in). Aged deterioration including stain, flaws, peelings, etc. as is as seen.
