Tsunodaru – Japanese red-lacquered keg with handles 1880 (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Two-handled wood ked coated with red lacquer called ‘Tsunodaru’ (lit. ‘Horn-keg’) as Japanese traditional sake container for celebration gift, with family crest of three paulownia leaves and signature of its maker as “Chiba Ikichi as a cooper in Shinmachi town, 78 years old, Meiji 13 (1880)”. In very fine antique condition for this type. (Not recommended to pour liquid into directly for the age though) approx. H 54cm (21.25in)
