UMAITA (Dealer: titcoRet) – Aged Japanese woodblock for printing horse picture called ‘Umaita’ (lit, ‘Horse-board’) deeply associated with the indigenous local religion in Tohoku region, Edo period, 19th century, approx. 9 x 6.5 x 1.8cm (3.54 x 2.55 x 0.70in). Its “horse picture” is the offering to the fields as the ride for mountain deities or ancestral spirits when the rites and festivals. Old signs of its former owner’s names at the backside.
