STONE FOXES (Dealer: titcoRet) – Two Japanese votive stone carving fox images from a certain shrine in Aomori prefecture in Tohoku region, Taisho-Showa period, early 20th century. (I have sold other same type foxes from the same provenance, but those two are the last pieces I own.) One as soft and lightweight stone and another as heavy stone, made by each different maker. Aged chips at the ears of both foxes, but tails vigorously remains with such original massiveness. Grayish one: H 15 x W 5.5 x D 8.5cm (5.90 x 2.16 x 3.34in)
