WOMAN WITH BABY (Dealer: hotoke) – Supernaturally formed white stone (made of the layer of primeval diatomaceous earth) with completely no processing by human hands (except arranging with a wooden stand), as a type of art of Japanese suiseki which is only able to be found in Suzu area in Noto Peninsula, Ishikawa, called ‘Hotoke-ishi’ (lit. ‘Buddha stone’ / also called ‘Koburi-ishi’ (Smallish stone)). Already defined and Known as “Buddha stone” for long time dated back to the Edo period at least, but mysteriously the mechanism of its formation is still unknown today. Stand is glued and not removable. Total: approx. H 12.5cm (4.92in).
