WOODBLOCK OF NAMU AMIDA BUTSU (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – Woodblock for printing ‘gofu’ paper talisman, with a Sanskrit letter which stands for Dainichi Buddha (Vairocana, Mahavairocana) and the kanji letters of ‘Namu Amida Butsu’ in the calligraphy style which imitates the sword protecting Buddhist teachings called ‘Riken-myogo’ (lit. ‘Sharp sword name of the Buddha’). 19th century, Japan. approx. 28.5 x 6.5cm (11.22 x 2.55in), T 1.2cm (0.47in)
