YAKIBOTOKE (Dealer: Sezuan antiques & art) – ‘Yakibotoke’ (lit. ‘Burnt Buddha’) as a burnt wood carving Buddhist statue for war or conflagration, Edo period (1603-1868), Japan, in such condition as is as seen, with some abrasion marks as the burnt parts scraped off, and with remains of two nails at the back probably for installing halo. approx. H 50.5cm (19.88in)
