SHIPPING
All purchased items are shipped directly from each individual dealer of tatami in Japan. Our standard shipping method is EMS, which includes full insurance coverage and tracking service. The shipping charge is calculated based on the well-packed weight of each item and your delivery destination.
If EMS is not available for your location or shipment type, Yamato Transport (which will be handed over to UPS upon arrival in the U.S.) or FedEx can also be arranged.
Please note that combined shipping is available only when multiple items are purchased from the same dealer, since each t a t a m i dealer operates independently.
Insurance is always included in the item price when shipped via EMS or other equivalent carriers.
*As of recent updates to the EMS shipping system for shipments from Japan to the United States, customs duties must be prepaid by the sender (tatami) on behalf of the recipient. After shipment details are finalized, tatami will inform you of the applicable customs duties. All payments (item price, shipping cost, and customs duties) must be completed within 48 hours of this notification.
CUSTOMS DUTIES
Customs duties or import taxes may be applied based on the declared value of the purchased items. These charges are not included in the total price shown on tatami invoices.
As customs duty rates vary from country to country, we strongly recommend that customers check with their local customs authorities to understand potential import charges.
*For shipments to the United States via EMS, customs duties are required to be prepaid by the sender (tatami) due to recent system changes. tatami will advance these charges on behalf of the customer. Customers are required to reimburse the full amount of customs duties within 48 hours of notification.
