KOYASU KŌBŌ DAISHI (Dealer: titcoRet) – Metal alloy statue of Kōbō Daishi (Kūkai) known as Koyasu Daishi—the guardian of safe childbirth—enshrined at Kōon-ji Temple, the 61st temple on the Shikoku Pilgrimage. Japan, Shōwa period, 20th century. Housed in a small wooden zushi (portable shrine). Approx. shrine: H 21.3 × W 11.7 × D 8.7 cm (8.4 × 4.6 × 3.4 in); figure: H 15.8 cm (6.2 in, excluding staff). Face partially crushed or deformed, giving it an eerie presence. Natural age-related wear and patina.
