RARE VOTIVE FOXES (Dealer: titcoRet) – An uncommon type pair of ceramic votive inari fox figures, Japan, early 20th century). One holding a hoju jem in the mouth: Approx. 2.3 × 4.5 × H 7.3 cm (0.9 × 1.8 × 2.9 in). Rarely encountered today. While the mold itself appears to be of earlier origin, this pair is thought to have been produced as dead stock during the Taishō to early Shōwa period. The indigo (gosu) eyes are particularly striking. Age-related wear consistent with time.
